Following up this this Kafue quotes topic I started recently, to those of you who have been to Kafue, please upload your evocative images from the park here, with a bit of background detail and tech specs.

Thanks,

Matt

Looks like it's down to me to start the ball rolling.

Evocative can mean very different things to different people so whereas the two images I posted on the Kafue quotes topic convey something of the “feel” of the park (I hope), here are a few more that have more personal memories.

Up on the Busanga Plains, in the midst of a huge Hippo fight, the Lechwe were totally oblivious to the crunching mayhem coming from the Hippos and continued peacefully grazing - surreal

And I still can't believe how fortunate I was to capture this

We last saw Leopard in Botswana back in 2007 so it’s been a long time and we’ve never seen them “up a tree” so these are “a bit special” for a different reason:

As is this one of a cub enjoying a late afternoon drink from the Kafue river, right in front of Musekese Camp

How many “WOW”s may I post?

Your Kafue photos are a splendid opener for this topic.

Both the subjects themselves and the lovely photography which does them justice.

Although I've never visited Kafue, for me your images above are evocative.

Thank you so much for posting them.

Tom K.

  • 10 months later...

1.) Cheetah one of three in the southern part of Kafue -straight out of camera

2.) Ellie one of nine who came to visit at Nanzhila lodge during during lunch time - I attempted to be creative here

3.) Waterbuck early in the morning - amazing antelope diversity vic Nanzhila including Sable and Roan

4.) Vulture waiting for lions to finish their meal

All in all Kafue was amazing we had one game drive where we saw a glimpse of a leopard, cheetah, wild dogs, lions and of course antelopes - lots of them - more photos soon
