Melanistic Zebra foal in Masai Mara

This little foal received a lot of attention in the national press.

I think there have been a few posts about this sighting but I guess you followed your elephant orphanage trip with a move on to the Mara?  How lovely to see it in person.

 

Hope to hear more about that section of your travels in due course

We visited the Mara before the elephants. We saw the foal on one of the first days it was sighted. I will do a TR on the Mara in due course.

@Game Warden We were wondering that but it was still there a week after we left. I will look out for it next trip :)

This  has  been reported  in the  DAILY  NATION  

 

@Penolva  your photo  is just as good  

 

someone looks  like they are squinting or have shut  eyes  , not  the best thing to do  around  predators

 

the press cover  did  mention higher  risk  with predators , the  foal is now back to the  Serengeti with  the migration

I saw the news report and it also made the news in the UK. It did have tiny eyes. I looked closely and it didn’t look as if they were actually shut. How interesting it’s now in the Serengeti. Thanks for letting me know. Pen
