Thanks, @@Big Andy!. The lions are actually angling toward the left (once they get out a bit farther), putting them in the following position, which for some reason makes me chuckle a bit:

This is from a series taken at Kwara last year. Its's no big deal, but I'm pretty happy with it, given that it was taken with an old Canon 300mm fd lens, a broken FX-FD adapter, and a Fuji X-T1. The adapter fell apart in Namibia, and when I finally found some super glue to put it back together, I was 120 degrees off in my alignment, with the result that I could no longer control the lens aperture. So, it was f4 or nothing for the remainder of the trip.

Lions in the sky

 

On a recent trip to Selinda/Botswana I was most fortunate to capture a very special moment showing 4 females and 1 cub from the Wapuka pride coming down to drink.
In attempting to capture the reflective atmosphere and avoid 'just another sunset' image, I flipped the shot to show the animals the right way up, creating an intriguing scene.
Lion reflections/silhouettes in water are certainly nothing new, however to have all five with clear separation was just a dream come true!
Being ultra picky, I would have loved the head of the leading lioness clear, but the phrase....never look a gift horse in the mouth comes to mind.

I've been very lucky to have some commercial success with numerous magazine & newspaper publications, finalist in BBC WWPOTY & Nature's Best (US & RSA) with this image also taking out 3rd place in the Mammals category in Europe's Oasis Nature Competition recently with over 22000 entries from 62 countries, so truly an honour!

Bean bag, front pax seat, apart from cropping out the upper sky portion, this image has had minimal processing, with just a simply change of WB warmth and darkening the darks, ACR & PS 'CC 15.

@@africaaddict I actually found the picture rather hauntingly beautiful. It doesnt seem real but it reminds me of an Indonesian show called wayang kulit where they tell a story with shadow paper dolls. Its rather surreal.

I was just doing an evening game drive in Nairobi National Park , after approximately thirty minutes I found Lion brother and a sister chilling together.The male one was so relaxed and not bothered by us at all.

The sister on the other hand seemed to be uneasy, she kept looking around, turning her head from side to side and yawning a lot! At some point she realizes she must look up too coz it was like the only side she had not checked, on seeing the Marabou Stocks up there she starred at them for quite a long time!! It was Such a strange behavior from a lion!

South Luangwa NP October 2016....

 

Ginger the lion ...... this is the male with abnormal colouration that was first seen earlier this year. He and his brother, Garlic, are making their presence felt and known in the park. They are both vocal and roar, a lot. And the lionesses love them!

 

 

 

This male is a newcomer to SLNP .... he was on his own and certainly had a regal presence about him, confident and bold ...

During a recent visit to Namiri Plains Camp in July 2016, we returned to camp at 11.30 to pick up our packed lunches only to be met by Mack the camp manager, giving us instructions not to get out of our vehicle as 2 male lions were asleep in and around the dining tent. We thought he was joking but drove slowly to the front of the the tent and sure enough one was asleep just inside the tent and one outside. The lunch in front of the tent for the rest of the clients was postponed. The uninvited dinner guests were moved on in the early afternoon by the skilful use of a safari vehicle. This incident went viral on social media, but these 2 images are the first taken of the event as we were the first guests to call in at camp that morning. If big cats are your thing Namiri Plains Camp is exceptional. What a wonderful experience.

This was one pair of three pairs of mating Lions and the Males would not let the females move away from each individual. It was a real game of cat and mouse as the females moved and then the Male would follow her and not let her near the other Males.
