Vlad the Impala

I really love hyenas, and when they're still young, they can even look quite cute. This shot was taken in Karongwe, South Africa. We sat by the den and watched this one, with it's siblings, causing all kinds of havoc around the den site, chewing anything they could find - sticks, each other, Mum (their's, not mine), the vehicle, an old torotise carapace - everything. Very entertaining to watch. All the while, their Mum just slept outside the den entrance, like she'd seen it all before and knew that any attempt at discipline would be a complete waste of time and effort.
