I also really like the longclaw, you've really brought out its understated color.

The Tsaro pride

Eighth sighting (last game drive and from far the best one)

I spent the last two hours of my trip with the pride. They were back on the plains. The cubs offered me, for my departure, a great show I’m not ready to forget.

Agree with Hari, that's an excellent Rosy-throated Longclaw.

Looks like the Open-billed stork had taken over the darters post on the bridge.

Hari, you'l have to wait a few more days for the Selinda report. There are still more than sixty lions pictures to come in this report.

Yes, Geoff, the darter was on leave that day.

What an absolutely stunning trip report! I really loved the series on the mock charge -- I felt like your framing of the main elephant, plus the elephants behind her, gave such a good sense of the tension in the air and of the elephant's movement as she tried to intimidate you. And I equally love your squirrel pictures -- another wonderful interaction between animals. I think you really capture something quite special that happens in the communications between wild animals.

I just showed up in time for the finale, and it was a good one. Glad you are back in the saddle and looking forward to Selinda next.

Beautiful photos (of course!) with some real special stuff in there. Very enjoyable visiting with you. Shame the buffalo herds were away but it gave you time to make sure you got us some lovely shots of the other wildlife. Not an area for landscapes, but it makes for some lovely backgrounds for animals doing their thing!

I'm glad you made your comment about the squirrels. Though I must admit the lions offered me plenty of photographic satisfactions, the squirrels pictures remain my favourite of this trip. Thanks a lot!

But the epic picture is not bathed in golden light. It's the two shots of the stunning male lion with the brokeh of Duba Plains in the background. The lions face is just beautiful.
