Well, I really don't know yet how big this year is going to be, but a visit to Sri Lanka in January/February definitely gave me a flying start. First visit to an Asian country so lots of the birds were completely new to me.

 

1.- Scaly Breasted Munia, Sri Lanka, January 2016

3. - Brown-headed Barbet

4. - Stork-billed Kingfisher

5.- Blue-tailed Bee-eater

6.- White-throated Kingfisher

7.- White-breasted Waterhen

[PeterHG]

8. - Yellow Bittern; dark surroundings, but even at iso 4000 the 7DII and the 100-400II performed well. I'm very happy with the combo!

9. Cattle Egret

10. Striated Heron. Taken on the same boat ride as the Yellow Bittern

19. Common Myna. I think they have also conquered South Africa..

20. - Asian Palm Swift. A heavy crop, but at least I got one...

21. Red Vented Bulbul. Very common throughout Sri Lanka

22. - Yellow-billed Babbler

23. - Oriental Magpie-Robin (female)

24. - Asian Koel. Seen a few times, but always hiding in treetops between the branches.
