@@Tdgraves - You have some great photos here.

Like you the Pied Starling has become my nemesis! I saw them clearly at a number of petrol stations and traffic stops but I declined to take a photos believing that I would see them in their natural environment. Suffice to say I've now returned from two months in SA with no picture.

Two corrections you may want to consider in your list.

No. 20. Is more likely the virens race of Cape White-Eye. My books say the African Yellow White-Eye is uncommon and range restricted in South Africa to Northern Zululand only.

No. 65 - I can't be certain but I think it's a White-browed Scrub-Robin

Posted (edited)

@@lmSA84 you are absolutely right about the white-eye. If I had bothered to look in the book, I would see that they really don't exist in SA. For some reason I had it in my head that was what it was. Therefore, must always check!

On a second look, I think you are right about no 65 as well, a white-browsed scrub-robin. But there will be a dusky lark coming from KNP....

Objections, your honour! I challenge the inclusion of the Emu, clearly we are supposed to take photos of "wild" birds? I will concede that it does not say so explicitly in the rules, though, and I will furthermore concede I am a hypocrite because I have been guilty myself with a Peacock and a Moscovy Duck last year. But I do think we should establish what is allowed and what is not. If captive birds are ok we could all just go to the zoo. :)
