No sooner had I got into the car than it had started raining. However, the birdspotting was not over. I had nearly got to the main road, where I saw a kestrel hovering and then it landed - full on gam

@@Dave Williams please do - it's a great place with many different ecozones, as well as beaches, cities and mountains. Food and wine are pretty good too ;)

Now for a bit of a U.K. interlude. I had the day off on Thursday and as it was forecast to be mild, I thought I'd try a new RSPB reserve, Ouse washes. This is a string of hides overlooking flood plains. As usual, it was blue skies and sunshine when I left home, but had completely clouded over by the time I got there. :( It did brighten up later on, but after most of my sightings. On the upside, the place was deserted, I walked three miles and in three hours I saw 25 species, including five new ones! :D

 

p.s. these places still all seem much further away from the birds than those that @@TonyQ visits in the West Midlands....
