@@Treepol, nice, I really have to do more Australian travel myself. Those little Dusky Swallows are very cute.

For those that are unaware the Orange-bellied parrot in post #28 is one of the rarest birds in the world. Some estimates put the wild population at 20 individuals. There is a captive breeding program with captive bred birds being added to the wild population.

@@Geoff thanks for the detail. I have a TR in the pipeline that will gve more information on the OBP program.

We saw 4 birds in a tree at Melaleuca and the guide said that this was 10% of the remaining wild population - a very sad and sobering observation.

Wow, fascinating about the rarity of the Orange-Bellieds - and sad. The Wattlebirds remind me of our Starlings.

Fascinating collection of Australian/Tasmanian birds @@Treepol, all completely unknown to me. Wonderful to be able to see and photograph one of the rarest birds in the world! I would have 'liked' your photos individually, too, but I got the message :'You have reached your quota of positive votes for the day'. I did not know my positivity , rare as it is, would have to be limited even further :), but rest assured I do like them!
