19 Days of Bliss on Self-drive Safari

Wow, what an adventure. Read from start to finish this morning as I was away all of November and out of contact with the internet so missed it until now.

I have to say it takes lots of experience and the right equipment to even consider undertaking a trip like that. Seeing the soft sand was one thing, getting stuck in water enough to tell me I won't be doing that! The animals I can take on though, although caution and common sense is obviously necessary.

That said I am getting a little more adventurous, after the gravel and tar roads of Namibia and lodge stays, I'm returning for a camping trip with a party of three vehicles (safety in numbers!) later this year. We won't have water to tackle but sand might be an issue. Who knows where that might take me after that!

@Dave Williams, thank you for taking the time to read through the whole TR.

To tackle your camping trip in a party of 3 vehicles is very sensible. How long is it going to be and where to?

Sand is normally not a problem if you bring the pressure down in all 4 tyres and it take only a day or two to get used to driving in thick sand.

I wish you a safe and enjoyable trip and would love to see your TR.
