Oh no @kittykat23uk!   That is a "worst nightmare" situation for a wildlife photographer.

 

But look at it this way:  it will give you a chance to really soak things up with your binoculars (and scope?) and enjoy the details more without fiddling with camera and looking through a viewfinder.   

 

I resisted getting a camera for years because it really hurts your birding and naturalizing.  And observation in general...

Lol, not really, camera is still usable except for the hotshoe ,  and still have my 50-200 to fall back on.

 

Thankfully I didn't break any bones! :)

@kittykat23uk Glad you are ok, shame  about the lens. Please write a report, Hokkaido is on my bucket list! I’d love to know all about the trip. Japan is sooo fabulous ?

We have just arrived in hokkaido. We spent the first week on honshu and kyushu. Looking forward to seeing some stellar's sea eagles soon. We went to see the Japanese cranes today. :)

This is a great trip report with tons of interesting observations !! The tiny so cute baby porcupine is a must !

The Marrick Farm section that I'm especially interested in  is great.
