We were lucky to be here when they were in their stunning breeding plumage. There were lots at Intaka, though often partially hidden in reeds. When we were on the gravel road heading to De Hoop, there were flocks of them by the side of the road, on the ground and on the fences - but as soon as we stopped the car they disappeared.

Well done on the 400 Tony, the Turacos are certainly special birds, very photogenic and a great milestone posting!

I look at your SA shots and wonder what might have been for me but hey ho, however right now it's Ho,Ho! Merry Christmas, bring on next year!

@TonyQ it's 3am over here and i couldn't sleep so caught up with your BY in one go.  Congrats on hitting the 400th and with such a lovely bird. I've yet to see a turaco in the wild but they sure look stunning. As always,  a collection of top shots from you!
