This one was taken from "below the eye-level" position, Peter? Nice shot!

Love these Francolins and similar types, they are very challenging to capture in camera too.

Thank you very much @xelas, @Galana and @Dave Williams.

The area had been worked over at some time in the past, with lots of little berms. U got lucky and found the bird standing on one.

On the 19th of August, I had the privilege of going to Marievale with @Treepol and her friend Carrol.

Although we were unsuccessful with finding either Malachite Kingfishers or Otters, we had a good day none the less.

209) Purple Swamphen

@Peter Connanthanks for such a memorable day.

I am still  entering my sightings into Wildlife Recorder and am hoping for 1-2 lifers from the 19th. I know that I improved on some existing photos of Yellow-billed Duck, Red-billed teal and Cape Wagtail.

@xelasI agree wholeheartedly!

A really nice low angle and narrow depth of field on that shot shows off the bird beautifully Peter.

211) Grey-headed Gull

Gryskopmeeu Larus cirrocephalus

Our only inland Gull, they have adapted extremely well to rubbish dumps and other unsavoury environments, and are a common sight in the city. But I don't take my long lens into those areas.

That first one's a cracker Peter. One good one is better than several poorer efforts!
