PC's fifth attempt

Oh well, Peter, that was a massive job for a fantastic result. Myself, I would just post the unedited cropped cuckoo (maybe even the uncropped version) and would enjoy the rest of the time with a cold beer :D!

Thanks @xelas

Actually, it still takes less time than a beer. And in any case, you know I am mad and don't drink beer.

Congratulations of hitting your 250 target, I'm delighted for you. Pride didn't have to take too much of a hit, your attempts at an EBC are pretty poor I'm afraid:)

Thanks @Dave Williams. Not even the Grebe? I had high hopes for that one...

Well, it seems as if the end was not the end after all. We spent the days between Christmas and New Year's Eve camping at Rugged Glen campsite, which is just outside the Royal Natal National Park.

These are great proof that, with fast and agile small birds, the higher the shutter speed you use, the more sharp shots you get. These were taken at 1/4000th. Also, the last one clearly illustrates how much better a BIF shot gets if it has something other than blue sky or (worst of all) clouds behind it.

261) Southern Bald Ibis

Kalkoenibis Geronticus calvus

We were driving to Little Switzerland, a resort some way South of the reserve as Sonja's wine had run out when I saw this bird sitting on a soccer field just off the road. Unfortunately it flew off just as I turned in. I was still quite excited to see it though as they are pretty scarce and I had never seen one before.

And I suspect this time that really is it!

It also brings my grand total for 5 years of Big Year participation to 394.

Thank you @xelas.

Just one thing. I know you are allergic to tripods, but you definitely need to bring one on your next trip!
