@lmSA84, a great collection from Lake Merritt, some beautiful ducks, geese, never sure which is which,  those little 'hummers" are something else, must be fun trying to photograph them.

@elefromoz - thank you! It's good fun trying to get a hot of the hummers but it was also frustrating as he just wouldn't go into direct light, choosing to stay in shade instead

It's been slow going so far this far this year. I've been working hard at home and work so almost no chances for any real birding other then 1-2hrs when I've been in the US or on holiday.

Still I've been working mainly from home so it's given me a chance to get to see what visits my tiny little 5-7m garden in central London. It turns out a fair amount of Britains regulars.

My year's prime bird watching.

I've already posted the Fieldfares and Redwings which visited on account of the "Beast from the East" but I think those were more one offs.

These next guys are the regulars.

You get Goldcrest in your Garden?? Something going for London then!!

Nice bunch of photos. apart from the Goldcrest the Long-tailed Tit gets my vote. Just little balls of fluff.

Good effort.

Wow, interesting image of the hummingbird in #167 it's feeding from a grevillia ~ that's an Australian plant.

I didn't see it in your backyard overview #182 ~ put in a birdbath and you'll get every bird in the neighbourhood visiting.

It doesn't take long for the word to get out.

@Geoff - thanks! Impressive flora knowledge. I looked up Grevillia and apparently they grow well in Pleasanton, CA. I think the closet I'll get to a bird bath in the short term is my daughter's paddling pool.

@TonyQ and @Zim Girl - thanks much appreciated

@Galana - it's always hard to not favourite the longies. It's the first time that I have ever noticed the Goldcrest but he was a regular for at least two weeks. Again don't know if it was weather related.

@Towlersonsafari - thanks - at least I managed to make some use of horrible weather with the blackbird shot

I've posted what I can find in my local garden so now it's time to quickly tick off the locals from the park. I'll start with one that I'm not really sure about.

I'm not good with gulls and this gull honestly looks to me like a Ring-billed Gull but Ring-billed are vagrants to the UK so it's more probably a Common Gull - so that's my guess.

@Galana - what do you think. Image taken in central London.
