Show us your ducks

I went to look for a "show us your ducks" thread but there wasn't one!  So here goes:

This past Tuesday, during approach of a terrible winter storm (still digging out 5 days later), I went to a harbor jetty to photograph sea ducks and seabirds.

Winds were howling at 20 knots sustained, and the temperature was a cool -7 Celsius.  These were mild compared to things to come.

A male Black Scoter came in to feed on barnacles and was fairly confiding.  I found that the winds made a tripod shake more than hand-held, so apologies for the somewhat soft focus.

These are some Black-bellied Whistling-Ducks I saw today.   When I was growing up, this species was unheard of in South Carolina.  But with climate change, here they are.

This lovely Common Eider hen granted me an audience this morning by the rock jetty at Huntington Beach State Park, South Carolina.
