Tdgraves less big year 2018

In April we went to a conference in LA and then spent a week driving up to San Francisco, so we took the cameras and stopped in areas where there should have been birds en route. This was my biggest USA birding trip so far. Pretty much everything we saw was new, with the exception of American robin, house finch, goldfinch, turkey vulture and American kestrel (which I failed to get a shot of anyway). apologies in advance for any incorrect IDs. Relied on a book and the excellent Merlin app. Researching areas to visit on the internet is a bit strange, but on the whole was very sucessful, not least of which, our chosen spot in LA. A lovely hilly park right in the centre of LA, where we not only saw a lot of birds (despite arriving "late" according to staff) we also saw a bobcat!

Two EBC entries here - one hiding its' head, the other taking off out of the depth of field...

So, 21 birds on our first USA jaunt, in about a 3 hour walk, so not too bad!

Just found a better lesser goldfinch shot

Next up, we move north (and nearer to the ocean)...
