Birding on 3 continents

Well done with the dipper - I am very jealous. An excellent photo of the Treecreeper as well - a bird I find very difficult to photograph.

Thanks, @TonyQ! I have reached the bank of the river in the morning, and told to myself "What a coincidence, a small stone on top of a large stone?!” Then the small stone moved ...

Great photos, @xelas! I have seen a Dipper only once or twice, so something really special and that Goosander showed really well!

So you got your Dipper after all those years trying. That is what makes birding so worth while. Well done for grabbing it for the list but I did have them on standby for you.

That Goosander has an evil-looking bill!

Two more, last two from February. Both have been taken from the balcony.

A bit sad to make that journey just for one bird, but it is amazing what the BY does to one! I only saw my first ever nuthatch a few months ago, would almost consider it (if we had spare leave....). Imagine what lengths the "real birders" would go to.....

Then put The Balcony on the list of next visits. Nuthatch and who knows maybe even a Treecreeper, not to mention the Crested Tit ...

@xelas now you're teasing me - I've never seen either of those :(

And what about Hawfinch :P?!

what a wonderful thing BY is - it gets your whole family involved, you exercise by walking in the parks, breath fresh air, take in the sunshine, do right by the birds by feeding them, and then fill your brain 24 hours of day with bird talk. I fear I could become a BY clone too!

BTW - awesome photos. I love all those of the tits especially.

I don’t like you anymore @xelas no I haven’t seen one of those either.

. Although I did just see a redwing in my garden, something I have only seen here once before

And it really does all the things you have mentioned! It is not about the count it is all about the fun! Plus it gives you the chance to meet some great people ...

This is patently untrue...

But the rewards are worth the cost.

I did not mean anciliary payments such as time, extra equipment, more trips! Surely those are a given. Like being given a horse and having no money to feed it.

I should know. I have just bought a plane ticket to The Gambia! If the birds won't come to me I will go to them!

US$20 a photo!!;)
