Wow, Brown Hyena pups, how special! Fantastic pictures as always Hari, just spectacular. Very sorry to hear about your friend Hobbs. So how did you like the new camp itself?

Has Hobbs really passed away? Or did he "merely" leave Kwando?

Thank you for the expert photographs. Will be hard to wait a year to experience in person. I’m sure it was very hot;  but was it hot all night too?

@shouldbewriting - Thanks a lot.  I'm sure you will have a great time.  Yes, extremely hot!!!! At night too was quite hot!  A few cool nights when we had very heavy winds and the cloud cover blew away ...... But, some very warm nights too!

Various bits and pieces from lagoon (watercut region ) ..........  The Crocodile at Second Lagoon (apparently, he's been seen for many many years - a first for me though).

A great, great TR as usual.

I am extremely saddened to hear about the passing of Hobbs.  I have never had Hobbs as a camp guide but have shared several pleasant conversations with him in camp.  His unmistakably deep and gentle voice resonating over the radio will forever be etched in my mind.

Here is Hobbs when I last saw him in September 2017, with his trademark bush hat.  Rest in peace brother.

Excellent Trip Report and lovely pictures. Thanks, Hari. Still can’t get over Hobbs passing. Kwara will somehow be different without him at least for those who had Hobbs as their guide there.

The 2 fluffy looking brown hyena pups are gorgeous.

Thank You all for the kind comments and interest in this report @Alexander33 @Sangeeta @Safaridude @Ritsgaai @marg and @AKR1

Been swamped at work and haven't had a chance to edit images last couple of days - anyways, here's a Botswana classic ........... In the Background is the Botswana flag flying proudly from the Botswana Defense Force's (BDF) Wounded Buffalo border post as we had the massive herds come to quench their thirst in the heat of the day.

I am told that starting November 24th, Botswana tourist visas for all tourists will be stamped on entry - WOW!!! A DREAM COME TRUE ....... About time!

Fabulous pix - I especially love the dogs, the lions and those brown hyena pups - so cute!! I am so shocked and sad about Hobbs! I loved having him as my guide in Bots in 2013. Memories of him are some of my most vivid of any guide I've had. He was the coolest. May he rest in peace.

I had to dig into my external hard drive to pull out these old photos ............

RIP, Hobbs .......

First one, from his days as a tracker (not sure of the time line - 2004 or 2005? when he's tracking for Mothusi); second image is from Lebala from October 2009 where he is in the old URI.

Ahh the URI, I remember driving one at Little Kwara back in 2007 with both guide & tracker on the ground following cheetah tracks - what Vicky & the 3 Swiss ladies in the back thought to my driving has never been divulged!!

The photograph of the Botswana flag and the elephants drinking takes us back to 2014, when we stayed in the family room, which has such a wonderful view.
