So that's it for RSA, unless I find some hidden EBCs when I do my TR

We did get 43 species in a few hours at Rietvlei, despite being the wrong time of day, so it is definitely worth it, especially if you have a few hours to kill before a flight.

Well done on your SA additions, lots of really nice birds

Congratulations on a successful trip with some great  sightings. Thanks for letting me ride along from a safe distance. I have only been to RSA once so it was good to see new birds.

Not bad for a midday score for Rietvlei. We'll be staying in the area and visiting the reserve for a day or so in January, so it's good to hear it's worth it.

A great collection from SA. Looking forward to your TR - and, I may have missed it, where and when is the next trip?

@Kitsafari Kgalagadi in jan, although we are going to the Gulf via few days next week, I’m not sure that any birds we see will be new....

  • 4 weeks later...

Well, contrary to expectations, we did see a couple of new species on our brief trip to Abu Dhabi, two of which were in the hotel grounds, as well as a couple more to add to the count...there were also a pair of osprey nesting on the hotel roof!

Birds can be found in the most unpromising places.

Even Indian House Crows which is what I fear your BN Raven really is.

Your Brown-necked Raven looks like a good ol' House Crow to me. I've been looking at them every day for the past 2 weeks.

@Galana and @Soukous that’s disappointing as it will not count....

I wouldn't worry too much, your score is still mightily impressive.

Sorry for that but you score is still a great achievement and I doubt it will come to a Tie breaker.
