Thanks for sharing the incredible photos and narrative!  This appears to be one of those adventures that you're either the best of friends after or never speak again!   It looks like the most amazing adventure and one that few families would undertake but oh the rewards----I admire your entire family's spirit!  Like someone wrote, you can see the pure joy and happiness of those grand kids -- thanks again for the vicarious trip through this incredible desert and country!

I've come late to this and read it all in one go. I remember the vast expanse of dunes before you reach the coast but never dreamed you could drive across them! My heart was in my mouth reading about the potential pitfalls and seeing the photos. And what great photos they are! You really show very well just how enormous the landscape is, especially in the pictures of your tiny camp tucked into the bottom of massive dunes. What an adventure and thanks for sharing it.

Thank you to both of you for taking the time to read the TR and your kind words. 

 

Every now and again one of the grandchildren will mention something they remember from the trip or will ask when we go again. 

Just this week the youngest little boy had to see an ENT specialist and he saw the screensaver on the doctor's laptop was of the desert. He blurted out: 'We were also there!" 

 

So, yes... it seems like the experience made a lasting impression.
