The answer is of courser, a Bronzed-winged one at a guess?

Nice one.    It's a Golf Courser.

I note the reference to 'family' and not 'genera'. And wonder if the obvious barring is a thigh and not a belly?

I think I need a new book too.

Honey Buzzard. Goshawk?

Have a clear run at it Dave. It is Gin o'clock.

Goshawk looks a likely answer to me Fred. Colours are good!

Gin o'clock already, the Isle of Man isn't in a different time zone to me by chance?

It depends on what Planet you are usually on.

16.00 local time at weekends is G o'clock for this poor struggling pensioner.

It clears my poor mind too as I was reading one of Forsyth's Short stories about a Judge being conned by card sharps on the Dublin-Tralee Express.

And it set me thinking. You two should be ashamed of yersells taking advantage of an old man.

A Cuckoo on the Golf course. Yeah Right!

Just remember the Chinese saying. "Revenge is a dish best eaten cold!"

@Dave Williams nice try, but of courser you are wrong B)

@Galana found the correct family of birds, accipitridae

Your continent is correct but so are two others.

@Dave Williams and @Galana  Since I am ahead of you timewise I may have had to many G&T`s:D so I missed a couple of your posts.

You have still not found the right bird. Please remember my comment about the long tail.

PS When I initially tried to see how good  Merlin Bird ID is, it suggested Golden Plover B)

@Galana  I hope my English in the above post is correct meaning that it can be found in three Continents. That would rule out Long - tailed Hawk.

I’m trying to guess because when I saw the picture I thought of an accipiter, I’ll go for the Levant sparrowhawk now.

Didn't really want to go for this, as I still haven't picked out a photo for the other game:rolleyes:

It wouldn't have come to mind from the photo, but if it's an accipiter that lives on three continents, then I will say northern goshawk Accipiter gentilis as it occurs in Europe, Asia and North America

Slainte @Dave Williams

I have just shared a bottle of "Stones and Bones" Portugese with my Rib Eye.

Before that I offered Goshawk prior to my G&T. (Hic!)

It's the witching hour in Mvechtland so we can all sleep on it.;)

I did not realise it would be this difficult but none of you are really close.

Please remember that the accipitridae is a large family!

The bird can be found in Europe, Africa and Asia but is rarely seen in a CircusB)

So you are saying it is a  Harrier ? Even 'Hen' qualifies for 3 Continents  under its guise as 'Northern' in USA.

Marsh, Montagu and Pallid..

Do we have to tick em off one by one?

Golf Harrier?

@Galana   Montagu`s is correct. A rare breeder in the South Western part of Denmark.

Over to you.

Sorry to be taking a while to find one worthy of the game.

There are just sooo many Cisticolas to choose from.

Back shortly.

@mvecht

Out of interest I would enjoy seeing any other shots you may have of that Harrier.

@Galana  Sorry, this is the only shot that I have kept. We did see the bird several times during the week but always in bad light or too far away for any good photos.
