@kitsafari  we moved house 3 months ago so the "sofa" is unfortunately not producing much these days. The Owlets are growing and it is nice to see that all 4 are doing well although two of them are bigger and more dominant than their siblings. Yesterday we were luck to see the full family with both parents and the four Owlets.

In the afternoon we went to the Arboretum in Horsholm, Denmark

#48 Common goldeneye (Bucephala clangula)

The target bird was actually the Common kingfisher which we expect is nesting in the bank right behind the Goldeneye. It will be easier to find in a few weeks when the eggs are hatched.

A very productive outing, waders are always cool. Good to have such a nice area close by.

  • 2 weeks later...

#58 Eurasian bullfinch (Pyrrhula pyrrhula europaea), Guldforhoved Denmark

This is a sub species of the more common Pyrrhula pyrrhula that we see in Eastern Denmark.'This sub species is marginally smaller than the nominate species.

Both pictures were taken at 6400 ISO as the weather is not too nice at the moment.

A couple of very long distance shots from Vrads Sande, Denmark

#59 Lesser redpoll (Acanthis cabaret)

In Denmark we have both Common and Lesser redpoll. They are very difficult to tell apart, especially at long distance. Given the location and time of year   will say that it is a Lesser redpoll.

still Vrads Sande, Denmark,

#60 Red-backed shrike (Lanius collurio)

also quite distant.

My target species for the trip was Spotted nutcracker. It only breeds in this area. I heard one in the distance but was not able to spot it..
