Looks like the Gull to the left is in focus. It is obviously not in the center of the picture and there are several meters difference in distance between the Gull and the Moorhen.

Has anyone else had similar issues?

Camera Canon EOS 70D and lens is Tamron 150 - 600 mm G2.

Is your camera focus set on single shot or AL Servo/AL Focus?  Are you using front or rear button focus? Was this taken at the full 600mm focal length (as it is much harder to hold you focus point on the subject with longer focal lengths)?  Hand held or tripod?  Seems odd still for it to be so far out of whack.

@shazdwn  single shot, front focus. Picture ataken at app 600mm focal length handheld.

Normally I dont see anomalies like this one.

Is it a one off occurrence? If so no need to worry as it was probably your error rather than the camera's.

@mvecht, Terrific Honey Buzzard shot. I've had the pleasure of seeing this Migration and its quite something to see them all flying over

I realised that I had not posted a couple of birds, probably because I was waiting for better shots

Congratulations on 100 species! Agree about the Hobby, always a good catch! Time is running out on me for that one, only one or two weeks before they will be gone now ...
