And that appears to be it. I remember taking a far away proof shot of a yellow-crowned night-heron, but fear I may have deleted it after seeing the juvenile at close quarters, feeling that I didn't "need" it, which of course turned out to be a black-crowned. Also saw moorhen and barn swallow (already posted elsewhere), which makes a total of 43, all on the property. Not bad for a last minute replacement beach holiday!

Not bad at all, and congrats on 200!

A belated congrats on #200! I missed that number before (probably too close to my age for comfort...;)).

Also saw moorhen

Would that not have been the American Moorhen (Gallinula Galeata) instead of the the Eurasian form (Gallinula Chloropus)? That would mean another tick.

There was a short break in the rain last week, so I dashed out to Fen Drayton, as it was sunny. In the 10 minutes it took to get there, it had clouded over again and it started to rain after a few minutes. However, I got a new tick when I turned around for home and as I drove past, they started a murmuration!

I had a bit better luck yesterday. The forecast was cloudy and rain later (as it seems is every day when I actually have some free time), but I took the risk and drove to Welney anyway. As it turned out, there was even a breif spell of sunshine and when the rain did come, it was only a few drops, so I ended up staying for a couple of hours longer than planned. Quite successful it was too!
