@Tdgraves, the Swallow Tailed Bee-eater is lovely , in an understated way, not as dazzling as some of its cousins, but a beautiful photo nevertheless

And that's all for now. The majority of photos still not processed, so will hopefully be finding LBJs as this progresses, as well as checking the list, looking for those who are missing...

I’ m interested to know how you distinguish the Gabar from the Pale-chanting goshawk, I’m running through my 2017 Kgalagadi trip pictures and I have a few “suspects” but even if they are most probably all Pale-chanting I’m struggling to make an ID (I’ll post them later on a new topic).

The problem is pictures can be misleading in terms of size and colours, anyway right now I have plenty of time to check the phots.

True. A good guide is the 'length of the bird.'

Gabar is shorter so with the same depth of chest the ratio of barring on the rest of the underneath is more on the PCG.

Habitat for Gabar may be more wooded. PCG more open country and prefers the top of the tree. Rarely 'inside'.

Dave Williams

Particularly love the first Ostrich. Fabulous.

I have been contemplating a trip to KTP for many months and pondering when and where  to book. It rather looks like our trip to Kruger and KZN in September will be postponed so I'll probably stick with that first.
