Late to the party ... Sharon's first attempt

I decided that if I was going to get some new species this late in the year my best bet would probably be shorebirds - and I was right.

195) Lesser Crested Tern (in middle with orange beak)

196) Little Tern (the little one of course)

There are also Crested Tern (yellow beak) in the image, but I have them already

East Point Reserve - Darwin, NT, Australia - 19/12/20

Three tern species in one photo, that is quite an achievement! Almost there for the 200.......

This little bird has been eluding me all year and then today it popped up (very briefly) right where I was not expecting it.  So forgive the heavily cropped and super grainy image - ooh only 3 to go now!!!

197) Rainbow Pitta - East Point Reserve, Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia - 20/12/2020

my eyes were fixed only on the pitta and all "grains" forgotten.....

And here's one I've been saving for number 200 - a resident bird but hard to find, especially in full breeding colours

200) Red-backed Fairywren - Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia - 28/11/2020

@xelas, @TonyQ, @PeterHG, @Tdgraves, @Peter Connan, @Galana, @Kitsafariand @elefromozthank you all.  I am pretty happy with the result given they were mostly from the Top End region.  Hopefully next year will take me further afield  and I can bring you some new species, but if not, lets see if I can match this year.

@elefromozif you do make it up north look me up, I'd be happy to show you a few local spots or at least point you in the right direction (not that I claim to be an expert!).

Happy new year all
