Bu**er the birds. That video complete with a Sir D soundalike deserves a high rating.

Some superb photographs and I agree with @PeterHG, a few weird ones too! Looking at photos of birds from across the continents I'm also often surprised to see something that looks identical to my untrained eye cropping up elsewhere as a totally different species!

Did you have that feeling with the Varied Triller that I did? (Wryneck?)

Thanks for your comments and encouragement all.

Actually I have to thank you for more than that.  Since stumbling on this forum and joining the BY it has really motivated me to get to know our local birds better and to explore some new walks.  LBJ's now have names and identities, I've discovered birds I didn't know we had around here and I've found some new favourite places - of course having a bit more time on my hands as many of my usual activities are on hold has also helped, but so has the fun chatter on here.

While researching bird watching in my area I found mention that there was something special to be found in our botanical gardens if you knew where to look.  I headed down there today not expecting to actually find it, I mean I walked that track plenty of times before.  But today I turned left along the fence where the track goes right and there it was, right where I had read it would be.  Amazing.

Its back to work tomorrow but I have a few more weirdly wonderful birds from today to share with you over the next couple of days.

IF you know where to look. :D This BY and badinage is a  real eye opener in more ways than one. Welcome to the club.

And what a great subject to find as a result.

Congratulations on your first 100, love the Lorikeet shots - fantastic! The Big Year had a very similar impact on me.
