Fantastic additions, some beautiful species there.  So it looks like you have hummingbirds in your garden, so jealous :)

Yes, I have 2 resident breeding males and at least 3 females that rotate around all the time. Hopefully, we'll have a good migration this fall and maybe some rare visitors!

133) Dunlin - 3 May

Things are getting dicey this round of posts.

Very much an EBC photo for this Dunlin, but I've never seen them any closer to the walking paths, unfortunately. The black belly patch, droopy bill,  and squat dumpy posture give it away.

134) Lesser Yellowlegs - 3 May

Another bin-worthy photo, but here's a Lesser Yellowlegs! Bill size being approximately equal to the size of the head is the major giveaway between Greater and Lesser.

137) Pacific Golden-Plover - 3 May

I know this photo doesn't look like much, but it was such a rush for me. This is my first truly rare sighting that I found all on my own. Others actually tried to re-find them after I'd reported them! Such thrills.

Sorry for the wonky cell picture. She only dropped by this one day, and then from what I've seen has not returned.

And that makes May! Additional not pictured are:

Semipalmated Plover

Brown Creeper

White-breasted Nuthatch

Swainson's Thrush

Common Yellowthroat

Forster's Tern

Good news is with some diligence, all of those can probably be found again in the coming weeks, and many are year-round. Total eBird through May: 174!

And we're back with June!

I had to slow down my historical posts, otherwise there'll be nothing to post about anymore ;)

Unfortunately, June started off with a Common Poorwill audio identification for 2 June. Sooooo, I've been attempting to find one to take a photo of, but no luck yet. Apparently, the best approach is to go out on the roads at on a clear night's twilight after a sunny day and they like to sit on the warm asphalt? Too bad I live next to the ocean and we're in short supply of sunny days and clear nights.

Oh well, onto something else!

And onto July now, might as well get all caught up!

153) California Condor - 3 July

I promise to go back as soon as I'm able to get better photos, as they really deserve it. There are only about 450 of these birds in the wild, anywhere! Just think of that :) I got so excited about seeing wild dogs because they're rare, but the condors are ultra-rare!
