Great shots of the Heron. I was just thinking of Kakadu a couple of days back.  If its third time lucky with us actually getting to the NT next year, I think I'll add it to the "Alice to Uluru" itinerary. anyways, time will tell if Im going anywhere.

Thanks everyone for your comments.  @elefromozif you do make it up this way let me know and I can give you some tips - or maybe even catch up for a bit of birding.

I am well behind on updating my list, again, but as the year is drawing to a close I'd better get at it.  In late October we headed west (although without leaving the Northern Territory) for a couple of nights at Timber Creek and Victoria River.  I had four target species in mind - I found two of them, both of the lifers, so I guess that's not too bad.  Here is the first one - well worth the flat tyre (well sort of).

187/NT140 - Spinifex Pigeon, Timber Creek, Northern Territory, Australia - 29 Oct 2021

Overall there were not as many birds as I was expecting, it had rained heavily a few days beforehand scattering what would usually congregate at the permanent water.  We did pick up a few more new ones though

Thanks for that, fingers crossed. Meanwhile we can go nowhere at all now, feel like we're going backwards actually.

Nice new birds there, sweet little Wren with his Purple cap..

Thanks everyone

Well the year is nearly at an end, but I'm still aiming to beat last years total of 200 (although I will miss this year's target of 200 from the NT, oh well there's always 2022).  Luckily I have a few common species I haven't posted yet as I kept thinking I would get a great shot one day - but as the days are running out ok (but not quite in ebc territory yet) will have to do.

196/NT152 - Sanderling, Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia - 6 November 2021

I'm going with Sanderling because of the black patch at the top of the wing - but red-necked stilt is not out of the question so jump in if you know better!
