Our good old Barn Swallow (K170) was around everywhere in good numbers.

422/K171) Mosque Swallow (Cecropis senegalensis) / Senegalrötelschwalbe

Aberdares, 15/11/21. A few sightings here. Similar to Red-Rumped but can safely be told apart by white underwing-coverts (among other things).

Aberdares, 16/11/21. All-Black Swallow, common in the highlands. Could not get a photo of its White-Headed counterpart in the Mara.

424/K173) Slender-Billed Greenbul (Stelgidillas gracilirostris) / Schmalschnabelbülbül

Aberdares, 15/11/21. Distinctive enough for a Greenbul. My first sighting in East Africa.

425/K174) Yellow-Whiskered Greenbul (Eurillas latirostris) / Gelbbartbülbül

Nairobi NP, 10/11/21. Seen in camp here, and then later again in the Aberdares. A lifer for me - I thought I had seen it in Gabon but no. Surprisingly I missed the one Greenbul I pretty much counted on - Mountain Greenbul which is not uncommon in the Aberdares.

427/K176) Brown Woodland-Warbler (Phylloscopus umbrovirens) / Umbralaubsänger

Aberdares, 15/11/21. Another highland species. Not an easy one to get a photo of as I have certainly succinctly proven with this one. Seen only once before in Ethiopia.

There was no shortage of our Willow Warblers (K177). Always amazes me how far this tiny bird can fly.

428/K178) African Hill Babbler (Sylvia abyssinica) / Hochland-Grasmücke

Aberdares, 18/11/21. Another lifer, which unfortunately only posed for an early morning ISO 10000 photo.

528360720_1889_Sandai_AfricanHillBabbler(Hochland-Grasmcke).jpg.2eb1ecef048cda17e09f31c5b6556745.jpg

Also saw a few Blackcaps (K179) - a first for me in Africa.

And Whitethroats (K180) were almost abundant - certainly moving through.

429/K181) Brown Parisoma (Curruca lugens) / Braungrasmücke

Sandai Farm, 17/11/21. Took me a while to figure this one out. Its featurelessness is its main feature. Lifer!

430/K182) Pale White-Eye (Zosterops flavilateralis) / Keniabrillenvogel

Nairobi NP, 10/11/21. White-Eyes have been lumped and split in a myriad of "new" species recently. This one´s spectacles are a lot narrower than the next one coming up.

I've read that that the two species prefer different host animals where they occur together. Well, I have proof that´s not true:
