482/K236) Chestnut Weaver (Ploceus rubiginosus) / Maronenweber

Ol Pejeta, 19/11/21. I try to avoid feeder photos but this was the only sighting.

483/K237) Red-Billed Quelea (Quelea quelea) / Blutschnabelweber

Ol Pejeta, 19/11/21. Supposedly the world´s most numerous bird - it´s estimated there are 1.5 billion of them. Missed a lot of them if that´s true - only saw these three:

484/K238) Yellow Bishop (Euplectes capensis) / Samtweber

Sandai Farm, 17/11/21. Only seen here. Quite interesting to see their different plumages simultaneously.

485/K239) Red-Collared Widowbird (Euplectes ardens) / Safranweber

Aberdares, 17/11/21. One distant sighting of a flock. I would have a hard time figuring this one out:

But fortunately this one came to the save:

486/K240) Bronze Mannikin (Spermestes cucullata) / Kleinelsterchen

Aberdares, 15/11/21. By the way, when are we gonna do that "ebc of the year" vote? Asking for a friend.

487/K241) Black-and-White Mannikin (Spermestes bicolor) / Glanzelsterchen

Aberdares, 16/11/21. It was quite cold and rainy at times - so these little chaps decided to huddle up.

Well @michael-ibkfor once I probably saw more than you did of those Quelea in Mana Pools last summer thousands of them and that’s probably an understatement; awesome pictures  and I am very impressed needless to say !!

489/K243) Kandt´s Waxbill (Estrilda kandti) / Kandtastrild

Aberdares, 18/11/21. Seen a couple of times. Waxbills being tiny and restless as they are not that easy to get. Split off from Black-Headed Waxbill.

Thanks @BRACQUENE, very kind! Yes, I remember good flocks from Mana. But I guess about 1,4 billion of the 1,5 Billion must hang out in Zakouma - at least that was my impression there. :)

490/K244) Purple Grenadier (Granatina ianthinogaster) / Veilchenastrild

Ol Kinyei, 12/11/21. Beautiful little bird, always best to get in camp. They liked to hang around at Porini Cheetah.

Sandai Farm, 19/11/21. No matter how often I see this cute little bird they never stop to delight me.

492/K246) Red-Billed Firefinch (Lagonosticta senegala) / Senegalamarant

Sandai Farm, 19/11/21. Cannot say the same about this one. They are pretty but I´m always slightly disappointed when it´s this species and not one of the rarer Firefinches.

Ol Kinyei, 11/11/21. I guess - too far away to safely exclude Northern Grey-Headed.

497/K251) Yellow-Spotted Petronia aka Bush Sparrow (Gymnoris pyrgita) / Sahelsteinsperling

Ol Pejeta, 19/11/21. I always thought that the yellow spot was just a myth the birdbook writers had made up for some fun. But no - it does exist!

498/K252) Mountain Wagtail (Motacilla clara) / Langschwanzstelze

Aberdares, 18/11/21. Only two distant sightings.

A couple of Western Yellow Wagtails (K253) had also decided to spend the Winter in the Aberdares. A good idea if you ask me.

499/K253) African Pied Wagtail (Motacilla aguimp) Dominikanerstelze

Naboisho, 13/11/21. A few scattered sightings.

And that´s all the birds I saw, honest. Not a single Pipit, Canary or Bunting around. Not one.

I don´t want poor @Peter Connan's camera to end up in the pool!

A great ending to an excellent presentation from the whole trip.

Did you REALLY stop at #499?? Surely there must be something in the reject bin you could rustle up? (I know I would.)
