Well done on reaching and passing the 50 mark.  I will have to send you some of our starlings, we have whole flocks of them in our garden sometimes!

Thanks @elefromoz and @Zim Girl I was contemplating getting the camera out in the work car park, as there is usually a starling in a tree when I walk back to my car!

I finished work a bit early today and it was cloudy with sunshine, so I thought I'd go for a quick walk. As it is now spring, it was a bit warmer so I left my coat in the car. Big mistake. After a few minutes the clouds started to look angry and 30 minutes later it was raining. Luckily I didn't get too wet and it did not ruin the photography, as what was around was pretty far away anyway....

Well done on 50!

I have to say I'd have been unimpressed coming runner up to the heron, I think yours was far more interesting composition and capture than simply a bird  with an eel in it's mouth. The interesting thing about yours was the centre of the image is a blank space, none of the birds are complete but it doesn't matter it works superbly. The only competition was the Flamingo in my book.

Thanks @Dave Williams I was just pleased that it made it to the magazine. And to think, at the time I was annoyed that it was so overcast...

p.s. totally uncropped

It was a bit of a raptor day today. I was very surprised to walk around the corner and see a big bird of prey in a bush. He was not happy - the other eye was OK, but he couldn't fly very well (I did try to creep past without disturbing it, but it was so close to the path, it was impossible)

great Raptor day, I do hope that last one got injured by "natural causes" and it recovers. Does anyone local rescue injured wildlife?

wow great shot of the kestrel.

that poor raptor is in bad shape, but i've seen birds (owl) survive for many years with just one eye so I hope this raptor recovers and goes from strength to strength.

I did wonder that, but as I assumed it was natural causes and not human interference, I thought that the answer was “no” but must confess that I didn’t do any research...

thanks @elefromoz and @Kitsafari

I forgot to say that I also saw a red kite, to complete the 5 common birds of prey in this area, butthe shot was not good and as there is three quarters of the year left, I refuse to post it!

Still warm today, but overcast. I had time for a short walk. End of lockdown noticeable in numbers of families/groups though...

Managed a windy walk this morning before the cloud came back. It was a bit chilly and seemed to have scared away all of the water birds. I did see my first swallows of spring and some yellow wagtails - am hoping for better shots before posting EBCs....I was pleased with this one though, as it is a bit of a nemesis for me, seen occasionally by car but never when walking. Missed it completely last BY and several others I think, so good to get it in the bag now, even if the photo isn't the best!
