Seeing them sitting on a post at the side of the track reminded us very much of our sightings in Iceland

And a duplicate Oystercatcher at the side of the track

We found these on a walk in the woods - another birder kindly pointed us in the right direction. There was a nest box and the birds were taking small leaves and dry grass into the box (presumably at the building a nest phase. We were able to watch them for some time, which was very enjoyable.

And the final birds from the Highlands before we moved on - a couple of duplicates from Craigellachie NNR, Aviemore, Scotland

Chaffinch - really common in Scotland. We sat to eat our lunch and he came to join us - but he brought his own dinner!

I have a sneaky feeling I know where your Grebes shots were taken, and not either of the two places I went! Nice shots, certainly Loch Ruthven, the well publicised spot for Slavonian grebes doesn't offer good photo opportunities. Like you though they were a UK first for me, a Scottish speciality on the very edge of their breeding range.

Congrats on the century Tony, looks like a great Scotland trip. Disagree just a bit about your Nr 100,i do think they are quite spectacular little birds. :) Love the Slavonians!

Congratulations on you 100. I am just home, left Insch at 05.02 this morning so news is fresh. More later.

I did find a welsh Tortoise with mate and a single Lesser Spotted @Soukouson my travels which was fun. I skipped Ruthven and Loch Indorb, on advice, as I heard they were more given over to frolicking Greater HomSap than birds. My score thus suffered although I did share a couple of BT Diver with @Soukousat my 'known' spot. Shocked to discover that a regular and excellent site for nesting Ring Ouzels was now a construction site. I will comment more in my report.

@Dave Williams@michael-ibk@shazdwn@xelas@PeterHG@Peter Connanthank you

@GalanaI look forward to your report!

We travelled from the HIghlands to Dumfries and Galloway. This was the only day on our 2 week trip when it rained - so well timed.

We stayed in the small town of Kirkudbright.

We visited the Mull of Galloway - the most southerly part of Scotland. Across the water was the Isle of Man. @Galanasaid he would be waving to me - so here he is

The Mull of Galloway was a really nice site with many nesting cliff birds - though the first birds here were flying past the cliffs

I think they are really beautiful birds when you see them properly. When they are more distant they look a bit dull, but I think they have amazing eyes.

So we really enjoyed the Mull of Galloway - and there is also a nice cafe that sells good coffee!

Good efforts at spelling Kirkcudbright from the phonetics.;)

Pron. Ker coo bree. Ted Heath failed to change that when his lot created 'Galloway'.

@GalanaI see I spelled it in two different ways - correct in the paragraph and then wrong with the photos.

It did take a while to learn how to say it, with lessons from MrsQ!
