Wow, you certainly found more at Mull of Galloway than I did. It is a fabulous spot even if I managed to miss most of the birds

@michael-ibkthank you - it was a pretty scene

@Soukous- luck plays a part as well!

So for the last few Scottish birds

We saw a few more distant ones at the Mull of Galloway, but a better view here. @Soukoushas some better photos in the same harbour so possibly the same individuals!

This is probably the closest I have seen House Martins!

Kirkudbright is on a river estuary, the tide was out exposing a lot of mud. The martins were taking advantage of this to collect mud for nest building.

There were lots of House Martins in Scotland and we were pleased to see them as numbers have been fairly low in our area this year.

The last of the Scottish birds so Ihave been self indulgent. Ballymack Farm is part of the Dumfries Kite trail which aims to encourage tourism and support the development of a thriving populations of Red Kites in the area (the were made extinct by humans and have been reintroduced). There are now lots in the area, and the farm puts out food each day at 1pm.  Very large numbers come to vist. If you don't mind that food is put out for them (which we don't) then it is a very enjoyable way yo spend a few hours.

So that was Scotland - really enjoyable to see some different scenery and some different birds. I have three more from England on the journey home, but I will post those later

Clearly I erred by driving staright through Kirkudbright. I did stop for a while at a large lake & reedbed, but missed the river.

Also also skipped Bellymack Farm. I think I was just in that area at the wrong time of day and couldn't be bothered to go back again. Very slack of me I know.

Terrific last shot of the Red Kite. I assume the local Buzzard has learned to get its freebie there too.

You could try these too. Not everyone wants to have their subjects put on a plate for them but in my experience , always abroad I might add , there are both benefits and negatives to using them .

Just to finish off! On our way back to England we stopped at Leighton Moss for lunch (and to break the journey). Not the best time of day but we were able to add a few birds to our list

So we managed 50 new birds on the trip. We were pleased with this number, but more importantly enjoyed being in a different place with very different scenery as well as the birds. (I do have one other very bad photo in stock which I may post in December!)

@Soukous@Galanathank you

I think it was easier for us to pick up new birds because we were starting from a lower base! And because we live in the middle of England we had a restricted range of environments we could see at home. Just visiting the sea was bound to give us quite a few new birds - wheras you can both visit the sea close to home.:)

What a lovely report with some beauties. My favourite shots are the Buzzard and Red Kite flight shots, gorgeous. Really nice group  of Black Tailed Godwits in breeding colours too.

Thank you @elefromoz!

I finally have a few new additions - from a while ago as I didn't finish processing the photos.

We were pleased to be able to visit Upton Warren reserve - probably our favourite. It was close all through various lockdowns. I just checked and our last visit was in January 2020 - a different lifetime!
