Excellent photos from both of you - good to see you using your photos as well Kit!

(It is just a year ago that we were watching birds in your neighbour, Malaysia. Seeing your photos brings this back. It seems a long time ago now.....)

72. Coppersmith Barbet, Eastwood vicinity

A coppersmith barbet has been making calls over the past few weeks from the rooftop antenna, and sometimes a second one would join it. I tried to record its distinctive "hong hong hong" calls but there was just too much interfererences. its calls really sound like a copper smith hammering away. One day, its call was answered but the other barbet soon flew off. guess she wasn't impressed with what she saw....

These are aren't good shots, but hope to get a better shot later in the year.

76. Pied Bushchat, Central Boulevard

Another migrant bird that's attracted to the city life, finding good food in a small patch of greenery near the financial centre.

77. Zitting Cisticola, Jurong Lake Gardens

The only cisticola in Singapore, the small native LBJ was put on Singapore's list of bird species on the brink of vanishing. But the government redeveloped the Jurong Lake Gardens and planted grasses that were appealing to the cisticolas. They returned and bred, and there is now a slowly growing group of cisticolas in this patch. We often hear the zit-zit in the air before we see them.

78. Palm Cuckatoo, Fort Road

Well, this is for sure an escapee. The stunning cuckatoo is only found in New Guinea, Aru Islands and Cape York Peninsula. Now it is flying around a heavy vehicle park but is finding food to keep itself alive. Anything goes for the limited series of 2021 BY.

Thanks @xelas I'm constantly amazed at the number of birds we have here despite the best of our government's efforts to bulldoze several areas of wooded areas and chop down beautiful old large trees so that they can plant "a million trees". ha. ha.

I too am stunned at the plethora of lovely birdlife in Singapore. It is not as though they are all LBJs. Many are beautiful in their own right.

Never mind the odd escape. If it has a pulse it will be counted this year.

Thank you @Towlersonsafari - i too like the scratching cisticola - it's as if it had gone "ahhhh" as it scratched the right spot!

Thanks @Galana
