I usually go to Fogg Dam at sunrise, but this time I went at sunset as I knew there had been a lot of owls sighted in the area.  I wasn't disappointed.

72/NT53 - Barking Owl, Fogg Dam, Northern Territory, Australia - 2 April 2022.  It was full dark by this stage and I found that trying to hold a 400mm lens and a torch at the same time was tricky!

The following weekend we flew to Timor Leste (East Timor) - our first overseas trip in two years .  Timor Leste is only a 2 hour flight from Darwin (in a turbo prop plane), on arrival in Dili we transferred to Atauro Island for a few days of diving and relaxation.  The diving there was sensational!! To limit luggage I only took my 200mm lens, and as many of you would know 200mm does not a bird lens make.  So please forgive a drop in my usual photographic standards and some very heavy crops - but we did see a couple of interesting birds.  

 

90/NT- Barred Dove, Atauro Island, Timor Leste - 29 April 2022.  Very similar to our peaceful dove but with a yellow eye-ring instead of blue
