A winter visitor. We have only seen them a couple of times before but have see a few of them this year. These were hanging around with Chaffinch and Linnets

@Galana@PeterHG@michael-ibkthank you - I was pleased with the Avocet photos. We know that at this site (Upton Warren) tha part where tha Avocets are seen is best in the afternoon fo light

Last year we only got one fairly distant view in Scotland, so it is niceto see them more locally again

There is a hide (called the Kingfisher HIde) which is opposite a river bank . Unfortunately (but understandably) viewing is through glass at this time of year.

The Kingfishers were digging their hole in the bank. It was very interesting watching them disappear in to the hole, then when they came out (with earth on their beak) the would plunge into the river to was the earth off.

These are part of a reintroduction project. They are freeliving and breeding in the area.
