@Kitsafari, Yeah, who would have thunk?  It's a dangerous rabbit hole... as you already know.  Yes, Fathala is very close to the border.  I would imagine most of the time would be wasted on the ferry from Banjul and the border crossing, not the road transfer from the border to Fathala itself.  Yes, Fathala and Gambia share nearly all the Sudanian species.

Only just found this report. Very informative and some excellent photography. I might have to re-consider Senegal!
