Lioness Steals Leopard’s Kill: Intense Showdown in Kruger National Park

Hello everyone,

I’ve just returned from an amazing three-week adventure in Kruger National Park, and I have to say, I've never filmed so many extraordinary moments! It was an unforgettable experience, filled with unique encounters with the incredible wildlife this beautiful park has to offer.

One of the most remarkable moments occurred on October 20, 2024, when I captured an incredible lion hunt.  (This footage is already available on the forum if you haven’t seen it yet.)

Another unforgettable highlight came during a morning drive along the S23, where we witnessed a rare and breathtaking interaction between two mating leopards.  (This incredible encounter is also uploaded on the forum for those who wish to watch it.)

Another very intense encounter,  happened along the S26. We arrived just after a leopard had made an impala kill. The leopard climbed a tree with its prize, glancing nervously as vultures circled above. The suspense peaked when a lioness, drawn by the scent and noise, approached. In a dramatic twist, the leopard abandoned its meal as the lioness clambered up the tree and claimed the spoils. It was an awe-inspiring moment that showcased the raw struggle for survival in the wild.

I’m currently editing the full film of this incredible trip, which will capture all these moments and more. But I couldn’t wait to share these highlights separately.

Thanks for watching

It looks that the lioness was very hungry!

We know, the lions are not good climbers, but for this one it was even more difficult because she lost a half a tail and it was difficult to balance and she had a wound on the paw.

In contrary - how elegant the leopard left the tree!

Excellent footage, @JPS!
