Panthera Pardus

This is about a cheetah named Hanri. We first saw her with her mother and 3 siblings in October 2011 when she was still a cub. This sighting took place on 29 October 2014 near 13 Borehole in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Hanri had just killed a springbok.

She then went to fetch her two cubs who were sitting under a tree about 500 meters away. She dragged the springbok across the road to the shade of a tree

from my recent visit to Hwange NP, Zimbabwe.

There is a pair of brothers that roam the NE corner of the park. Whilst we were there one of them had a very nasty foot injury and we feared he might not survive. I have since been informed that he made a good recovery.

In the last photo you can see him just watching the jackal stroll past.

Kingfisher Safaris

The female and cubs were seen in the Santawai Concession, June 2014, morning and afternoon.

The Male was seen just off the main road between Kazikiini campsite and the turn into the Santawani concession, probably less than 10kms from the family. May well be that he was the Father of the cubs and he did head off in their general direction, this was the day after seeing the family.

~ This was taken in Masai Mara on 21 January, 2013 at 10:58 am, using an EOS 1D Mark IV with an EF 14mm f/2.8L II wide angle lens.

Settings were ISO 100, f/9, 1/250 sec., Manual shooting mode, handheld in a safari van.

When a stack of student research writing homework awaits my attention, this image truly represents where I'd much rather be.

~ Photographed in Masai Mara on 21 January, 2013 at 11:02 am using an EOS 1D Mark IV camera and an EF 300mm f/4L IS telephoto lens plus an EF 1.4x extender.

ISO 100, f/5.6, 1/160 sec., 420mm, Manual shooting mode, handheld through the lower window of a safari van.

This drowsy male Acinonyx jubatus, 猎豹, looked like I feel on mornings where I'd like nothing better than to snooze, but this and that intrude.

At least there aren't any lenses pointed my way at such times, unlike this poor chap who may have been wondering if safari visitors ever chill out and nap.
