Hm, I see we're encouraged to include some details about pictures posted here - and it seems the possibility to edit posts isn't perpetual...

The monkey picture I posted yesterday was actually taken in the afternoon, not in the morning, on a walk in South Luangwa. The sun was getting low as we came to this clearing, and when this young baboon climbed out on the branch it got this nice rim lighting. It sat there for just a few seconds before scampering back.

Pentax K-5, DA 55-300 @300mm, 1/800s, f/8, iso 3200, handheld

(Would have opened up and chosen a slower shutter if there was time, but these days the cameras handle high iso quite well - and getting a slightly noisy pictures beats getting no picture at all :) )

Something different from the usual Lilac-breasted roller:

Blue-bellied Roller photographed at Makasutu in The Gambia. This is predominantly a West African species which favours Guinea Savannah woodland.

There are some astonishing photo's in this thread!

It does say in Matt's introduction to this thread, worldwide images are acceptable, so here is one from Costa Rica...taken in the garden of a house we rented in Playa Ocota in the province of Guanacaste last August.

The only new-world monkey which does not possess a prehensile tail, the ridiculously cute and sadly endangered Red-backed Squirrel monkey:

Back to more usual 'A Picture A Day' fare....African wildlife.

I am putting together a little picture-based thread recounting some of our more unusual experiences self-driving / self-guiding at Mana Pools over the years, with a view to hopefully giving people considering this option a little idea of what they are letting themselves in for.

As a little taster, this picture was taken one afternoon whilst camping at Mucheni 2 in October 2006......

I don't see many pictures of weather in this thread, so here is some slightly grumpy weather I encountered whilst fishing off SW Florida in the Gulf of Mexico in August 2011:
