Hm, I see we're encouraged to include some details about pictures posted here - and it seems the possibility to edit posts isn't perpetual...

 

The monkey picture I posted yesterday was actually taken in the afternoon, not in the morning, on a walk in South Luangwa. The sun was getting low as we came to this clearing, and when this young baboon climbed out on the branch it got this nice rim lighting. It sat there for just a few seconds before scampering back.

 

Pentax K-5, DA 55-300 @300mm, 1/800s, f/8, iso 3200, handheld

 

(Would have opened up and chosen a slower shutter if there was time, but these days the cameras handle high iso quite well - and getting a slightly noisy pictures beats getting no picture at all )

Something different from the usual Lilac-breasted roller:

 

Blue-bellied Roller photographed at Makasutu in The Gambia. This is predominantly a West African species which favours Guinea Savannah woodland.
