My wife is Danish and I'm from a former Danish colony (Yorkshire) so I have a duck in the oven for tonight.

Glædelig Jul!

Ghosts in the Twilight

11690143625_22f3ef65d7_b.jpg

On our last morning in the Sierra de Anjudar, before the sun was even above the horizon, in the morning twilight as we were driving to our scoping site, I spotted a ghostly shape, coursing just off the roadside. I shouted to our Guide to stop and reverse and there we watched as not one, but two iberian lynxes trotted through the trees and disappeared over a hill before we could get any photos. So this is how I have chosen to document the encounter..

A close up of the females head would look great if quality allows it.

What an expression!

Thankyou @@TonyQ! This last year has been particularly difficult for lynx and sightings have been much lower than in previous years.

This i took on a beautiful, still and clear evening in Magotho camp on the banks of the river Khwai in the Okavango Delta.

A wall of flames approaches a treed island as it races across the Busanga Plains, Sept 2008. Not something you see everyday returning from a gamedrive!

Savuti Camp, 2005. Mucking around, trying to be artistic in the downtime shortly after brunch. Photographing the bathroom mirrored reflection of myself & elephants near the woodpile hide waterhole.

I couldn't find a thread for miscellaneous images - ie not wildlife, so I've posted this here.

I couldn't resist this colourful display of local pottery in Nairobi.

Lovely shots everyone.

Here's mine - taken at Chinhoyi caves in Zimbabwe (a suitable stop-over if you are driving from SA to Mana Pools). The deepest freshwater scuba pool in the Southern Hemisphere, this, they actually haven't determined the depth yet...
