there were at least 4 of them in the vicinity, but they lived up to their skittish reputations, taking flight each time we stopped the vehicle for a shot.

There were 3-4 of these shy birds mixing with their more gregarious white-crested laughingthrush.

Juvenile enjoying a hearty breakfast. it was so accommodating, allowing to creep up closer to it. I guess being young at heart, it has still to become more wary of predators.

525/BK29  : Racket-tailed Treepie, Bang Prah

Back to the count. I saw this bird too late, by the time i moved to have a better angle, the treepie had moved on. So an EBC for my first sighting of this species. According to wikipedia, the racket-tailed treepie has plush black feathers on the head with the body an olive green. Its long tail broadens out at the end with a greenish tinge, while its eyes are a turquoise-blue with black pupils.Unfortunately, my photo didn't do its description justice, which makes me want to see this species again in a better light and more open position.

This treepie is native to southern Myanmar, Thailand, Indo-china, Sumatra, Java and Bali.

527/BK 31 : Ashy woodswallow, Chonburi salt pans vicinity

The ashy woodswallow looked like the dusky woodswallow we had seen in Perth. Also called the ashy swallow-shrike, the major difference would be geographical as the ashy woodswallow is found mainly in Indian subcontinent, MYanmar across to south and southeast China, Thailand and Indochina.

I struggled with the backlit poses.

528/BK 32 : Painted Stork, Chonburi salt pans vicinity

A real wildlife stork - as there are often questions over the origins of the painted storks found in Singapore although they've become regular residents in Sungei Buloh since.
