Welcome to safari "addiction". We went on our (cliche warning) "trip of a lifetime" in 2004 and have never looked back. Trips elsewhere make us wonder "why are we here instead of being out on a safari?". Of course, tastes and expectations will evolve but we still remember fondly those "firsts" - our first wild elephant, lion, ...

Your trip report brought back those fond memories. Thanks for sharing.

welcome

lovely pictures, after one visit is wild Africa in your bllod like it was for me in 1984?

are you prepared to economise on other things and not go anywhere else , so you can go to africa more often?

nearly all of the people here book with agents in Africa which charge a whole lot less for the same places, than agents in their own country.

What a great first trip. I love the 21 lions - that's special, having them all out in the open together like that.... and so many cheetahs (I don't think I've ever seen one quite so bloated, although it's alweays pretty easy to spot when they have just had a good feed).

Thanks all for continuing to read this, it's like my trip lives on as long as others keep reading!

As an update, I'm about to sign on the dotted line for a trip to Kenya in February 2014. It's almost as if what used to interest me (mainly, Europe 3x per year) doesn't even exist now. If I could get time off work again for 2 weeks this year, I'd go in the fall. I will update when I've booked. :D

You might like to think about the options of booking in Kenya , not my a USA operator they add serious price markups.

I am going to Lewa Safari Camp booking with Easygo safaris at a cost of hundreads of $us less per day .

They are very well priced, prompt and friendly.

February is low season, there is no reason to rush in without getting cost from an kenyan operator.

@Garfield I noted your Feb 2014 plans. Maybe we crossed paths! I see your post count is 2. You should do an introduction.

@@amybatt, at one point Feb 2014 was your plan for #2. Did you go?
