SW Floridian Birds

Recommended Posts

I have just returned from a family holiday in the 10,000 Islands region of SW Florida.

I spent several early mornings wading about in a tidal lagoon near our rental house. Whilst it was quite buggy, and there was always the potential for me to go 'a over t' and dump my camera in the salty water, the birdlife was brilliant. Here are a few snaps:

Reddish Egret:

Little Blue Heron

Roseate Spoonbills

And if anyone tells you they are beautiful, show them this picture:

Tricolour Heron:

Black Skimmers doing what Black Skimmers do:

Green Heron (juvenile):

Brown Pelican 'bait ball' frenzy:

Snowy Egrets:

Great photos, thanks for sharing. I particularly like the Black skimmer and the 'backlit' snowy egret.
