Another day so here are some more.

First, the two Carmine species.

Northern Carmine. Selous reserve. Tanzania.

 

Southern Carmine. Kwando River, Mudumu National Park,  Namibia.

 

Little BeeEaters.  Mudumu National Park,  Namibia.

White-fronted BeeEater.  Mudumu National Park,  Namibia.

 

Blue-cheeked BeeEater. Mazambala, Namibia.

@Peter ConnanYou should be able to see 5.5 of them in SA Peter! The shots were taken in The Gambia,SA,Namibia and Sri Lanka. If anyone wants the answers they are on my Flickr page right now

Well, without resorting to your Flickr page, my guess is:

1) Carmine (but don't ask me if it's Northern or Southern)

3) Little

4 and 8) Blue-cheeked

9) European

11) White-fronted

Don't know about the rest (although I know I have seen a few of the others on the forum), but I do notice that there are 10 Bee-eaters in Birdlife SA's list, but only six in my book...

2 is Red-throated (Gambia) 

5) is White-throated (Gambia)

6) Green( Sri Lanka but also seen in Gambia)

7) Chestnut-headed (Sri Lanka)

8) isn't Blue-cheeked, it's Blue-tailed (Sri Lanka)

10) Swallow-tailed (Namibia)

 

The Swallow -tailed is on the South African list, the 0.5 is the Carmine. Mine is a Northern Carmine seen in The Gambia. 

My shot of the Blue-cheeked is a rather poor example as it's cheeks are not very blue, I'd have missed that one for sure!

Thanks @Dave Williams. Hmmm. I have seen and even photographed Swallow-tails, but I expect them to look very different to that!

 

This one was taken in the Kgalagadi.

I assume yours must be a juvenile?
