Show us your marine life!

I've noticed there hasn't been much love for marine life yet on these forums so I've created a thread for these beautiful creatures. If you have photos please post them, I would love to see them!!

I'll start with dolphins :)

I had the pleasure of swimming with these guys in South Australia. Wasn't so lucky the first time because they swam away, but on the second attempt we got a few curious fellas come over to check us out

Sea lions in South Australia

Adults tend to not want a bar of you, but the young ones are far more curious and love to play with you and mimic your dives and somersaults. Swimming with these guys was one of the best wildlife experiences I've had

Whale sharks in Ningaloo Reef, Western Australia

Please forgive the quality. I have a waterproof point and shoot and the visibility wasn't the best.

We saw 7 inidividuals in a single day in late March. They are about 6-7 metres in length!

Thank you for the kind comment. We both know the challenges of shooting underwater. I sometimes wonder how I even did that.

Humpback whales breaching 100 yards or so off of the Noosa north shore, Queensland, Australia.  This pair of whales brached several time in unison and did not vary the pattern of the left hand whale jumping forwards and the one on the right turning to land on his back. These whales appear to be heading south and my son who lives locally told me that both the northward migration and return south have been unusually early this year. We saw whales on 2 or the 4 days we were at the coast this week.

Taken using a Nikon D7200 and 18-300mm lens @ 300mm.  1/320 sec, f/10, ISO 200.

Not the best of shots but a lovely moment.

@michael-ibk Thank you Michael, you are too kind. In actual fact I got very lucky with this particular Dolphin as it was close to the boat and leapt out of the water 3 times in succession as it swam alongside us so I had more than one chance which is just as well as most shots were far from perfect . Framing them in a rocking boat and locking focus on a wet shiny beast isn't simple for me though! I find that using a short lens makes life easier then crop the shot later. This was taken at 105mm on my 24-105 lens with a full frame camera.

@Lyss Thank-you. It was a nice few minutes. Perhaps you could get to Seattle - I believe they have a resident pod that provides reliable sightings.
