525/ZZ197.) Green-Winged Pytilia (Pytilia afra) / Buntastrild

Kanga, 23/10. One of my targets in Mana and they are not uncommon in the dry areas but did not manage more than an ebc-shot.

It’s really interesting to see what a difference a month makes, or a better pair of eyes ?

Great additions, and a lovely set of photos of the skimmers to finish the African section!

Another special mention to the skimmers, but also the little Twinspot. Stunning photos!

Now a question: since you have managed it three times in the last two pages, do you think you could get a Bulbul to photo-bom all your birds? Would give a great indication of size! :D

Regarding the bird you have a question on, I am pretty sure it is a female Quelea. Saw a very similar one yesterday.

So here come my "leftovers" from the year - mostly birds I hoped to get better shots of but that did not quite work out. :)

532/E185.) Brambling (Fringilla montifringilla) / Bergfink - NEW

Fulpmes, 12/11/2017. A winter guest - I was quite surprised when one showed up at the terrace (and did not return). Shot through the window.

533/186.) Chilean Flamingo (Phoenicopterus chilensis) / Chileflamingo

Unterer Inn, 5/6. A feral population has been around (and breeding) in South Germany for the last 20 years.

534/E186.) Common Jay (Garrulus glandarius) / Eichelhäher

Mühldorf, 4/6. A nemesis bird of mine. Not uncommon but shy and wary in Austria since they are being hunted - like all Corvids. A very heavy crop.
