@TonyQ - he is indeed! He wouldn't come out from under thick foliage on my last trip so I'm hoping for better next time I go.

These beautiful birds are very common and relaxed at Lake Merritt (Oakland).

Love the Ruddy Duck. We used to get them locally until someone decided to exterminate them all. Shame IMO.
